Eagles face tough road test against Riverview

Naples will face a big test in the season opener against the 8A Riverview Rams.  Ranked #5 in 8A while Naples is #8 in 6A (according to Max Preps), Riverview brings back many of the offensive players that came up 2 touchdowns short of playing for a state championship last year.  The explosive offense of the Rams features QB Sean White who threw for 1172 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2018.  RB transfer Tray Hall will try and improve on his 2018 numbers as he rushed for 1250 yards as a junior.

The Rams faced the same fate as many of the Southwest Florida teams in that they did not play in a kickoff Classic.  They did have plenty of officials, but too much rain, washing out their contest against East Lake.  Both Naples & Riverview came up well short in their respective  Spring contests, hoping to rebound in Friday's encounter.

Riverview is remembered for knocking the 2004 Eagles out of the playoffs in a rare early exit for the Golden Eagles.  Naples won the next 2 regular-season contests and would like to extend that streak this week.   Directions to the Ram Bowl are    Here

Golden Eagles cage the Sharks

Regular Season or Kickoff Classic - it didn't matter as the Golden Eagles rolled over Gulf Coast 49-0.  A running clock for the last 18 minutes kept the score as close as it was, as the Sharks never threatened to score.  Naples was not as sharp as they will need to be next week at Riverview, but it was more than enough to dominate this game. Dominic Ponder threw his first 2 Varsity TD passes and CJ Dietzel ran for 2 TD's to pace the Eagles.  The defense?  Well, Gulf Coast was limited to negative yardage for the game as they had no answer for the Greer/Sawchuk defense.
